Born in New York City, Ryan has made a mark with his music. He
has become one of the most sought after DJ’s in the area
due to his popularity and ability to please the masses. His ability
to mix through many styles of music has helped with his success.
As a child Ryan grew up listening to his native Colombian music
and classic disco thanks to his parents. He had loved the music
so much that his parents figured they should send him to get musical
training. At age 7 he learned to play the piano. From there he
decided to take up the drums at age 10. Finally as a freshman
in H.S. he was introduced to the art of DJing. Apparently from
his formal musical training DJing was second nature. He became
a popular local DJ playing School events and private parties.
His big break came his senior year when he became a resident DJ
at NYC’s Limelight. For over 2 years Ryan was a staple there
playing 3 nights every week till Limelight was closed down.
DJing the NYC circuit Ryan made a name for himself and was ranked
one of the top DJs in NYC at the time. Very soon after his high
school graduation, he decided to take it to the next level and
attended Institute of Audio Research in NYC. There he learned
the basics to making the music he loved to play for his fans.
After graduating Ryan interned at Logic records and began to make
his contacts in the business. Later he began to book studio time
to work on his projects. There he came across many producers that
have helped him along the way such as Eddie Cumana (Dynamix) and
B. Darius (Fugees).
Ryan teamed with Darius when he was given his first opportunity
to do his first remix of Tracie Spencer’s “Still in
My Heart” by his friend Mauro Decegli who work for Capitol
Records. Since that day Ryan has work with artist such as Wyclef
Jean, Milky Sedeck, & many urban artists doing production
for them. Leaving the urban scene after a few years, Ryan built
his project studio to work on solo projects and dance remixes.
Ryan has done remixes for many artist including Depeche Mode,
Lenny Kravitz, Sarina Paris, Deelite, Sean Paul, Lumidee, Kosheen,
Mpress, and most recently dance diva Jana. Ryan’s work on
Jana’s “Found a Love” won them a Nammy for Female
Artist of The Year in 2003. Now after 14 years of being in the
game Ryan has teamed up with long time friend Ralph Monte to form
RM² (pronounced RM squared). For the fall of 2004 they will
be releasing their new tracks which have had a huge buzz in the
industry since the Winter Music Conference.
