live room

Designed and built by the Studio People the live rooms¹ 3.5 metre
ceiling,
acoustic panels and bass trap combine to produce a room with excellent
acoustic properties ideal for recording a wide range of acoustic and
amplified electric instruments. A good selection of condenser and
dynamic
microphones are available and are fed to the control room via a 24 way
interface.

studio instruments

Musical instruments available for use during sessions include: Sonor
designer series drum kit choice of snares/cymbals. 15² djembe, LP small
congas various percussion. Kawai KG2 grand piano, Hammond C3 organ,
Juno
106, (Roland)Rhodes piano, various midi sound modules. Electric,
acoustic
and bass guitars with amps, mandolin, 12 string guitar,

vocal booth

Windows in the vocal booth allow singers to maintain visual contact
with
band members in the live room and anyone in the control room. Vocal
microphones include Neumann U87 and Rode classic valve condensers.

control room

The signals received from the live room and booth are fed into a 24
channel
Mackie analogue mixer and from there to one of the interfaces on the
Mac G4
computer running Digital Performer.
Mixdowns are performed on a Spirit 328xd automated mixer allowing all
details of a mix to be stored. The system can record and play back up
to 32
discreet channels of audio simultaneously, adding effects,EQ and
compression
either from the desk the computer or using outboard equipment.
Two interfaces provide 16 discreet midi channels to run midi sound
engines
and space can be provided for your own midi or computer equipment if
required.
Monitoring is on Dynaudio Acoustics M1.5 (main) and BM6 (nearfield). A
full
CD mastering service is also prov-ided with the superb mon-itoring
enabling
you to hear the finest detail in your mixes.

CD production

The studio offers a production service for manufactured CD¹s (runs of
500 or
more) sourced from one of Europes biggest suppliers. We also have an in
house production service for short run CD¹s (runs of 25-300) which
includes
sleeve layout/design, sleeve printing, on body CD printing and
audio/data
duplication.
